The Friends of the New Britain Public Library was formed in 1974 to advocate and fundraise for the library.

Among the group’s main activities are its two semi-annual book sales which have become hugely popular, drawing booklovers from across the region. The Friends of the Library support neighborhood outreach programs by providing free books and DVDs to organizations like Klingberg Family Centers, Prudence Crandall Center, the YMCA, Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut, Friendship Center of New Britain, the New Britain Farmer's Market, and other library-sponsored programs.

The Friends also manage the Everyday Book Sale, located near the entrance to the Periodicals Room in the Main Library, which is open during library hours. Smaller fundraisers are also held at various times during the year. All proceeds directly benefit the library.

We are a charitable organization, 100% volunteer operated, and looking for community members and supporters to join us. New members and new ideas are particularly welcome. If you are interested, contact us in the form below.
