Events at Main
Stop by the Children's Department to participate in our month long Dog Man scavenger hunt! Pick up your sheet at the Children's Desk and return it when completed for a fun prize!
Join us for a Playlist Party where teens create the ultimate themed playlist together! Share your favorite songs, discover new music, and help add your flair to our collaborative soundtrack for the month.
Join us for a fun and educational program for young voices to grow! Learn confident speaking, effective persuasion, and presentation skills. This program is best for kids ages 9-12, and registration is required.
New Britain resident, Jimmy Golon, will present a slideshow of pictures of Roosevelt Junior/Middle School from 1926-1989. The presentation will be narrated by Roosevelt's former principal, Dr. Ostopchuck.
Come to storytime for children ages 3-5. Children will build their literacy skills with stories, fingerplays, songs, and a craft or a short film! No registration necessary.
Do you have old photos that you would like to digitally preserve? VHS tapes you would like to convert to DVD? Old film negatives you would love to save? Library staff can work with you to save those precious memories!

Home Delivery
Home Delivery Service is specifically designed for New Britain residents who are temporarily or permanently unable to visit the library due to health or mobility issues.

Makerspace

Whether you're interested in traditional crafts or cutting-edge technology, our space is equipped with a wide variety of tools and materials to help you create, learn, and experiment. Join us to develop new skills, share your ideas, and bring your projects to life.
Meeting Rooms
Our Main Library's Community Room is available for nonprofit and community member use. The Hawley Room, also at the Main Library, is open to organizations/groups who work with children. Both rooms are booked through the Library website.
Printing & Copying
Printing is available for public use at the New Britain Public Library.
Copies are:
- 2 copies (30 cents/per page) are available per day for free
- 15 cents/per page for Black & White
- 25 cents/per page for Color

Public Computers
The Library provides free public computer access.
Scanning
Out flatbed scanner allows for documents and photos up to 11x17 to be scanned and saved to a USB, sent to an email address, saved to a google drive, or saved to a mobile device (using a QR code).
Wi-Fi
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the library. Users can connect by selecting the "NBPL- Public" network.
