Start your child on the road to reading! Storytime features reading aloud, songs and fingerplays. There is time for children and adults to play with toys and practice early literacy skills together.

New Britain residents looking for employment opportunities are invited to come by the main library to get FREE gently used business professional clothing and accessories!

Come out to the library for a Food Pantry hosted by My Portion Inc. 

Food, clothes, and furniture will be available on a first come first served basis and while supplies last! 

Join us for Chess Club at the library on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. No registration required. All skill levels welcome!

Join us for an interactive monthly poetry workshop series, led by Christopher Young, centered around teaching and improving the skills necessary to write poetry.

Families are invited to follow the pages and listen to City Beet by Tziporah Cohen as they stroll through the library! Each family can choose a free book to take home to read together. Children can select seeds to plant in their gardens.

Come to the Jefferson Branch Library and join us for stories and music! This program is for kids ages 4 and under, with an adult.

One-on-one technology assistance is offered Mondays from 10-11 a.m. and Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m. Individuals may register for up to two 30 minute sessions per month by calling 860-224-3155 x125 or stopping by the Information Desk.

Come out to storytime for children ages 2½-3½, accompanied by an adult! Build your child’s early literacy skills (talking, singing, reading, playing and writing) with stories, fingerplays, songs, a simple craft and time to play with toys.

The New Britain Public Library and the American Job Center have partnered to continue our one-on-one Job Information and Career Resources sessions that will take place on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.

Join Librarian Cara for the start of our Spring Break programming! We will be practicing our engineering skills by building contraptions to keep an egg safe when dropped from our stairs outside!

The Homework Center is available for New Britain teens in grades 6 to 12 on Mondays and Wednesdays (except on holidays or school closures), from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

We will have something for everyone, including a family story time at 12:30pm; come spring into a new season at the library! 

Come out to an event for all young Pokémon lovers to bring their cards, trade for new ones and make new friends! Drop by the Children's Room to share your collection! This program is best for kids ages 5-12.

Join the Teen Advisory Board and help create awesome events, recommend books, and improve the teen space at the library. TAB members also earn volunteer hours and have a say in what the library offers teens!

Looking for a fun and educational Spring Break activity? Stop by the Children's Department to meet and learn about different critters from Hungerford Nature Center! This program is for all ages. No registration necessary.

Do you have old photos that you would like to digitally preserve? VHS tapes you would like to convert to DVD? Old film negatives you would love to save? Library staff can work with you to save those precious memories!
