Join us for Chess Club at the library on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. No registration required. All skill levels welcome!

Join Power of Pawns, a kid focused chess group! Starting with a lesson on how to play, and ending with plenty of time to face off against other participants, we hope to see you there! Ages 7-12, registration required.

The unrivaled master of the macabre, none other than Edgar Allan Poe himself, is conjured back from the shadows for a most extraordinary hour of enigma and dread.

One-on-one technology assistance is offered Mondays from 10-11 a.m. and Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m. Individuals may register for up to two 30 minute sessions per month by calling 860-224-3155 x125 or stopping by the Information Desk.  

Storytime for children ages 2½-3½, accompanied by an adult. Stories, fingerplays, songs, a simple craft and time to play with toys! No registration.

Representatives from the Friendship Service Center's Hope Connection Center will be at the library to assist individuals facing or experiencing homelessness. Individuals may meet with a representative on Mondays between 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Do you live or work in New Britain and want to improve your current job prospects or change careers? Learn about the FREE services and programs, which you may qualify for, that exist in the North Central Region of CT.

Create a down-to-earth autumn decoration using felt designs (cut on our Glowforge), tree branches, and wooden beads! Learn how we use the Glowforge to laser-cut designs while making a beautiful seasonal decoration in the process.

Join us as we work together to find solutions to clean up a simulated oil spill. We will discuss the environmental impact such spills can have and experiment with different materials. For kids ages 7-12.

Do you have old photos that you would like to digitally preserve? VHS tapes you would like to convert to DVD? Old film negatives you would love to save? Library staff can work with you to save those precious memories!

Introducing the NBPL Crochet Club!

Join us on Wednesdays for a dedicated hour of quiet study time. Teens are invited to stop in to read, draw, catch up on homework or participate in other quiet activities while we play some soothing and relaxing chill beats in the background!

New Britain resident, Jimmy Golon, will present a slideshow about New Britain Public Library as it was prior to the Erwin Building renovations and addition, along with scenes from New Britain in the 1950s. 

Come to the Jefferson Branch and join us for stories and music! This program is for kids ages 4 and under, with an adult.

Explore a craft with your neighbors! Bring that crochet project you have been working on, or the drawing you have been inspired to start. Connect with others and work on your project at the library.

In honor of World Kindness Day, we will paint rocks with colorful designs, animals, and inspiring messages to adorn the Teen Room! This is a “drop-in” program, so stop by between 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at your convenience.
